Step 1

Open Windows Volume Control usually iconized in the Tray near the Time/Date, or at:

C:\Windows\Sndvol32.exe

Set the Wave Output volume to Maximum and Mute the Microphone check box.
Under the Options menu select Properties and make sure Advanced Controls is ticked.

Click the Recording radio button and check the Microphone box
in the bottom window and then click OK.

The (Recording) Microphone volume control will then appear, set it to maximum.

Step 2

Open up Windows Sound Recorder usually in Accessories or at :

C:\Windows\Sndrec32.exe

Press Record and speak into your microphone and make a short recording.

Playback and if necessary adjust the Windows master volume control to alter the sound level.

Step 3

When the above is successful start up Rave. (Do not connect to the Internet)

Type in localhost or 127.0.0.1 and then click Dial

Wait for the phone to ring.

Click the Rave button and speak.

Click the Rave button again and after an approximately 2 second delay your speech will be
played back to you, the Rave volume control may be adjusted to alter the sound level.

Repeat this as often as you like and when finished Hang Up.

Now you are ready to connect to another Rave user via ICQ
